Thought I'd put a couple of songs from "Broken" available to download for free. Empty Chair - a song about losing my best friend to cancer, one review site said the chorus "Now Thursdays strange" didn't make any sense, well it did to me Thursday was our evening at the pub getting drunk and talking about everything and nothing. In contrast Song of Summer - which was my attempt at a happy song, didn't know what to write about so wrote about being rubbish at chatting up women....well at that point in time!!!

Unfortunately due to other commitments in life "Broken" will be the first and last album by Martine White with Paul Jemmett. Maybe things will change in the future, who knows but Martine is now a mum which takes up lots of her time and I've just started a new job at Orbis Ltd, which is keeping me busy.

Thanks for reading, listening and hopefully purchasing the album, take care

Unfortunately due to illness I had to cancel practise/recording session with Paul tonight - hopefully the problem will clear up by next week and Paul and I can get some new ideas recorded.

Thanks for reading, take care

12/02/2009 - 21:09 Paul Jemmett (Martine's Songwriter)

A quick update we were scheduled to try out a drummer on Monday, who has now left Martine and I disappointed. I will not name names but unfortunately from one minute this person went from being very enthusiastic to the next them having, what I feel is a lame excuse, of all the songs are a bit to "light hearted" for them and that they'd thought all the songs would be like "Empty Chair". These were 30 second previews on Amazon he was judging this on which in itself I find shocking....

1stly this person had no prior gigging commitment and admitted he wasn't a pro.

2ndly The songs on Broken are about failing relationships, loss of a friend to cancer and heartache I would hardly say these are "light hearted" subjects so I am perplexed by this.

3rdly If all the songs sounded like "Empty Chair" I would personally feel I had failed as a musician.

His loss I guess......rant over!

We will continue to look for other musician's to join us and look into alternative ways to provide a good live shows in June/July time regardless of what happens on the lineup.

We should still be rehearsing on Monday and hopefully we will record a couple of rough demo's of some new material which will be put up on here for download for registered forum members!

Take Care
Paul

A very exciting day today which makes it an excellent time to unveil the new look of our website. At 6.15pm (UK time) Friday 6th February 2009 "Song of Summer" from my debut album "Broken" will be played on BBC Radio Kent - 96.7/104.2/97.6FM; 774AM; DAB Radio; www.bbc.co.uk/kent many thanks to Phil Harrison and Ben Mundy.

Currently we are not playing any gigs due to me expecting my 1st child at the end of April/beginning of May. Rest assured Paul and I are working on new material and rehearsing the songs of my debut album "Broken" so that when I'm able to, we can start gigging, we're aiming around June/July 2009 time.

To that end we are currently looking for other band members to join us so we can give a great live show.

The "news" section has been done away with for a blog - this will be updated at every chance, if not daily, then every couple of days.

Now to the really exciting part - at least I think! For us to keep our existing fan base and to try and extend it further, as and when we record "demo's" for our new material we will put them on here for download for free to all forum members. This will mean you will need to sign up to gain access but at least then you have a place to discuss the songs and what you like/dislike and hopefully this will generate a sense of community amongst the fans. These will normally be just an acoustic guitar and vocals before any additional instrumentation/mixing and mastering is done so won't sound anything like the final song but in a sense allows you to come along on the ride with us as we work towards our 2nd album.

Thank you for reading and listening - I hope to see you at one of the live shows in the future and to see your posts in the forum.

I am very hopefully 2009 will be a very exciting year!!!!!!!!

Love

Martine
